Custom transparent stickers: everything you need to know before ordering

A custom transparent sticker is a sticker printed in color on a clear film, without a white background. It allows the surface underneath to show through, creating the effect of a logo printed directly onto the object. Choose a smooth, light-colored surface, as white is not printed. Prices start at €0.80, with free delivery.

What is a custom transparent sticker?

A transparent sticker is a clear vinyl film that is printed and then cut to the desired shape. At StickerGreen, this film is rPET vinyl made from recycled plastic bottles. It contains 58% recycled plastic, is PVC-free, and has a glossy finish.

You choose the shape: round, rectangular, rounded corners, custom die-cut, or kiss-cut. A custom transparent sticker can be made from a few centimeters up to 60 x 60 cm. The cutting follows your file with 0.1 mm precision.

One detail changes everything: white is not printed. A white area in your logo will therefore allow the surface to show through. On a white jar, it appears white. On clear glass, it appears empty.

Please note: white ink is not possible on this product. The sticker remains translucent after printing and must be applied to a light-colored surface.

Lamination increases the thickness from 100 to 150 microns. StickerGreen recommends it for outdoor use and for items that are washed or handled frequently.

Why choose a transparent sticker over a classic one?

The transparent option erases the sticker's border, whereas the classic option retains its background. Here is a comparison, based on StickerGreen's product sheets.

Many people think that clear film ages poorly. The product sheet states the opposite: waterproof, UV-resistant, withstands temperatures from -40°C to +120°C, and lasts up to 7 years outdoors under normal conditions.

In terms of the environment, StickerGreen compares its vinyl to a standard PVC sticker: 60% less CO₂ and 87% less water. These figures come from their internal life cycle assessment as of June 2026.

When should you choose a transparent sticker?

Choose it when the surface is part of the design: glass, clear packaging, polished products. On dark or colored backgrounds, the classic version remains safer. Three things to check before ordering:

  • The color of the surface. The lighter it is, the more your colors will pop.
  • The contents behind the glass. A dark liquid darkens the visual; clear contents allow it to stand out.
  • The white areas of your logo. They will take on the shade of the surface.

Unsure about the rendering? Order a non-customized sample to test the adhesion on your surface.

Where can you place a transparent sticker?

Storefronts. A transparent window sticker decorates a door or glass without blocking the view. Glass is smooth and non-porous, making it ideal. A sticker printed on the front will read in reverse from the street if applied on the inside: apply it from the street side.

Bottles and jars. A transparent bottle sticker sticks to glass and surfaces with gentle curves. Consider what is behind it, as the contents affect the colors.

Packaging. A transparent packaging sticker adheres to cardboard, rigid plastic, and kraft envelopes. On white cardboard, it adds your logo without making the box look heavy. On brown kraft paper, your colors will take on a brownish tint: test before ordering a full batch.

How to get cheap custom transparent stickers?

Prices start at €0.80, including taxes and delivery. The unit price decreases with quantity: StickerGreen offers prices as low as €0.02 per piece for orders of 5,000 units. Four ways to save money:

  • Reduce the size. The price increases at each size tier.
  • Keep the lamination for outdoor use only. It adds about 30% to the displayed price.
  • Group your visuals on one sheet. The discount only applies to a single design.
  • Test first. There is no minimum order quantity: a single unit is enough.

For large volumes, the quote page on the StickerGreen website allows you to request custom pricing. Public organizations can pay via Chorus Pro.

FAQs

1. Can you print white on a transparent sticker?

No. White ink is not possible and the film remains translucent after printing. Apply it to a light-colored surface or choose a classic sticker if your visual contains a lot of white.

2. Does a transparent sticker resist water and sunlight?

Yes. The rPET vinyl is waterproof, UV-resistant, and withstands temperatures from -40°C to +120°C. StickerGreen claims up to 7 years of outdoor durability under normal conditions. Add lamination if the object is frequently washed or handled.

3. How do you apply a transparent sticker without bubbles?

Start from one corner and smooth it toward the edges, taking your time. For large formats, spray a little soapy water, place the sticker, then squeegee the water out from the center to the edges. No need for a hairdryer. Let the sticker rest for 24 hours before exposing it to extreme temperatures, below -10°C or above +50°C.

4. Can you remove a transparent sticker without damaging the surface?

The adhesion is permanent. According to StickerGreen, the adhesive leaves no residue upon removal and does not damage the surface. A cleaning product helps with removal. Therefore, plan for a final placement.

5. What is the difference between a transparent sticker and a transparent label?

The material remains the same: recycled rPET, PVC-free, with the same inks. The difference lies in the usage. A label identifies or provides information about a product and comes on a sheet of one single format. A sticker is used more for decoration and communication.
